Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing the number of visitors to your website (sans advertising dollars) by making sure your website appears high on search engine results pages (SERPs). That’s a mouthful, we know. But trust us, it’s essential.

It’s important to first understand that SEO all comes down to keywords and “votes of confidence.” Before any optimization happens, keyword research will need to be conducted to understand your business, your industry verticals, your competitors, etc. But don’t worry, we’ll take care of that for you. “Votes of confidence” is a colloquial way to talk about building quality links to your content. More on that below.

Now there are three paths to take when it comes to SEO. Unlike our buddy Robert Frost, we recommend not to take the one less traveled, but instead to take all of them. Live a little. Adventure.

  • On-Page SEO. This basically means that all the pages on your website (“on-page” means on the pages of your website) follow SEO best practices to make sure you appease the search engine algorithm Gods and hopefully they boost your website to the top of SERPs. Again, this will always be incorporated into the websites we build for our clients. But it’s worthwhile to point out its importance.
  • Local SEO. As the search algorithms continue to change, everything is becoming more and more localized. That’s why local SEO is important. Through a few key on-page and off-page optimizations, we can help increase your localized business listing, increasing the chances of you popping up for relevant, nearby searches. Sounds pretty good, hey?
  • Building Quality Content Links. This takes a while to build, but it’s worth it in the end. Link building is responsible for a large percentage of your SEO campaign. As we mentioned above, think of link building as “votes of confidence.” Just like an election, when a person votes for a candidate, they are backing, or vouching for, that person. The same concept applies online. If another website links to your website, that’s an online “vote.” The more “votes,” especially from heavy hitters, the stronger your campaign becomes and the higher your website appears on search results. The stronger your campaign, the more traffic to your website, the more leads generated, the more sales sold and the more cha-ching in your piggy bank. Capisce? Capisce. How do you do this? We recommend creating a strong content marketing strategy. It’s best and more sure-fire way to create true, long-lasting content.

The old saying “you get what you pay for” is very true with SEO. This isn’t a free or cheap service, but you can either make mortgage payments and own your home or continue paying overpriced rent. The choice is yours, but we encourage you to make the investment.
